Miss Jacqueline Jones—
Captivating audiences with her voice, wit and showmanship comes naturally for the dynamic JACQUELINE JONES. At an early age, Jackie's heart was captured by the overwhelming desire to entertain, and when the talented Miss Jones is on stage -- whether in song or in playful banter with the audience -- her devotion to the fine art of entertaining shines through.
By the age of 19, Jackie already had 15 years to her credit as a professional gospel singer. Without missing a beat, the Gary, Indiana native pursued her singing career in Chicago nightclubs after earning a degree in nursing from Purdue University.
Although best known as a singer, she is no stranger to the dramatic stage, having appeared in productions of The King and I, South Pacific, For Color'd Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, Ain't Misbehavin', The Tragic Life and Death of Dr. Faustus, Godspell, Tintypes, and Tommy. Jacqueline is currently appearing in A Little Moonlight ... Jacqueline Jones Celebrates Billie Holiday, a theatrical piece created especially for her by writer/director Ellen Jones (no relation).
Her versatility as a singer, dancer and actress has led to engagements in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Jacqueline has performed across the country and abroad, but remains a wildly popular favorite in her adopted hometown of Orlando. Her spirited blend of Jazz, Rhythm and Blues and Contemporary music consistently delights her audiences whether she is performing in an intimate club or on the concert stage. She appeared before a television audience of more than 365 million people worldwide when she sang the National Anthem for the opening ceremonies of World Cup, 1994.
She has also acted in a diplomatic capacity, having traveled to Russia as a delegate for the Seventeenth Summit US-Soviet Dialogue, 1989-1990.
Jackie recently completed another milestone in her career: a music video of an original tune titled That's What's on My Mind, her second cassette release, A Nite in the Life, is going into national distribution, and Miss Jones is just completing her third release on CD, called Sweet and Sassy.
Between engagements throughout the year, the energetic Miss Jones generously contributes her time and talent to local benefits, including AIDS Awareness Education fund-raisers, the United Negro College Fund, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the Coalition for the Homeless, and the American Cancer Society.
